Vendui house Dev'Lin,
I would like to introduce myself to those who hasn't seen me around yet from House Dev'Lin. I have been around since two weeks now and really like the game and the community around it. I would like to settle playing here for a while and be part of house Dev'Lin.
I must say a great thanks to everyone who has been around helping me. I still have a lot of things to learn but I'm in a good process.
Meldor is now lvl 13, 6 fighter / 7 weapon master. I would like to make a pure tank with him and here is the build I have in mind for the future levels. Some suggestions would be really appreciated.
13 fighter / 7 weapon master / 10 divine champion
I think I can reach a good amount of Health and saves around this build while I can handle some good offensive output.
See you around

If you are looking for help on the build knowing what the characters current statistics and weapon choice for the WM class would help so that we could give you better advice.
Glad to see you participating Meldor. Things should get a little more lively for the House starting this weekend when I can start to introduce some of the RPing elements that I have planned. _________________ Sorn Dev'Lin

Ya mostly a rouge player myself but the current tank I am working on seems to be a common one.
12 Fighter / 10 Frenzied Berserker / 7 Weapon Master / 1 lvl of whatever personally taking BlackGaurd for rp reasons.
He uses 2handed weapon and in testing once up there in lvl was getting low 200's for dmg quiet a bit. Has alot to do with the FB bonus's and the Crit bonus from WM. _________________ "Don't fear the dark...fear what's in it"

My base stats are:
STR: 16 (+3 from level)
dex: 13
con: 14
wis: 10
int: 14
cha: 13
I'm spec for katana, with improved crit.
I'm saving my last 10 level for divine champion to boost my saves.
What I'm wondering is if I should go 7 WM 10 Fighter and 3 level in something else or just go 13lvls into fighter. My main focus on this character is to be purely defensive to be able to tank everything including epic creatures like dragons etc.
right now I use tower shield and katana when I need defense and when it get easier I just go two handed fighting with my katana. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

Ya the amount of damage you do with power attack and improved power attack is crazy. My lvl 14 drow does an automatic 38dmg just hitting you and this is before the actual weapon dmg. Also this is without using his rages which increases the base dmg because his str shoots up.
But I have a 20th lvl fighter/WM/Rouge who uses Katana. I have been debating on either rebuilding or what not and giving him some FB levels. _________________ "Don't fear the dark...fear what's in it"

Naw like I said my build is to be the perfect defensive tank, I can careless about dmg as it's not the role of my character. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

The build you've got going so far can only benefit from Divine Champion so much and I would have to agree with the others. Your AC will be the same if you take 5 levels as FB and 6 levels of Divine Champion... but whatever you so I would suggest you take 12 Fighter/7 Weapon Master... make sure you get greater specialization and epic specialization on your 12th level as a fighter. Hope that helps. _________________ Sorn Dev'Lin

Nothing to do with AC, but saves, I'm going to explore FB but imo FB only benefit in lvl grinding with power attack and cleave which will not matter when it's time to fight a dragon or a balrog. I dont want to dual wield or two weapon fighting. also if I go power attack I cant use combat expertize. I see your point tho since lvl 13 all im fighting is group of mobs which is probably the only thing I will fight in the game. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

Hey Meldor, just wanted to say hi and welcome to Devlin, however regarding the build, id suggest changing it slightly, you must understand alot of people on TFR go for very overpowered builds *coughs* A fighter/WM/Devine champion isnt going to last long, sure you will have good saves, but there are plenty of items out there that will make you immune to most spells which a fighter type needs to worry about. I know this has to be the most common build on earth, but how about taking Bard lvls (For tumble, Umd and listen) Rdd (for extreme stat increases and AC increase). I created a simmilar build for Halo, as she doesnt really like to use spells, and she loves it. Plenty of damage, ac, and not too bad saves. + a couple of handy spells.
Just throwing the idea out there, so its up to you, i can advise you on it as well if you like.
Let me know. |

From what I understand, there are no epics creature to kill in TFR atm so I understand your point of view because the only thing to do is grind mobs over and over.
Cleave and Power Attack is really useless against a dragon or a deamon. Rather have more saves and improved combat expertise. That's where I'm coming from.
Used to make a dwarven defender build with 2 paladin lvl's in DDO and I was by far the best tank out there for any raid bosses.
From reading FB description all I see is some kind of cleave improvements where in Divine Champion I can get 5 to all my saves, improved combat expertise and a dmg reduction buff. plus extra epic feats because DC get extra feat every 2 lvls and if you take DC for your last 10 lvls you can chose to take epic toughness or skin or will etc instead of the extra crappy feats from DC list. which I end up with 600HP epic armor skin and epic specialization.
13 fighter 7 WM 10 FB seem to be a solid build for a grinding tank I admit. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

Tumble UMD and listen, I cant tumble with a FP unless I had mithril TS and FP and alot of dex. Listen I will have 20 listen 20 spot with my current build more wont make much of a different and UMD will be close to 20 also. I have no idea what Rdd is. Would like to hear more from it. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

Well it isnt Important if you are wearing a full plate or not, for every 10 points in tumble you recieve 1point of ac regardless of your armor, and you will see it on your AC, you can achieve a maximum of +3AC through this method.
Regarding Bard, if you choose to take two lvl's or more, you will get access to a spell called amplify, which will grant you +20 to listen, which is handy against most sneakers.
RDD = Red Dragon Desciple. The prereq's for RDD are arcane caster and 8 points in lore. Hence the Bard lvls, for taking RDD lvl's you will recieve, +4AC, +8STR, +2CON, +2INT, +2CHA also immunity to sleep, blindness and fire. the typical build would be Fighter/WM/Bard/RDD, it usually ends in a very high AC and hard hitting character.
You said in one of your earlier posts that your stats are 16STR 13DEX 14CON 10WIS 14INT 13CHA, with RDD (not icluding any further stat increases through lvls) you will have 24STR, 16CON, 16INT and 15CHA without putting a single point in those stats.
ALso I would suggest increasing your DEX to 14, so you can take full advantage of a mithril full plate, their not hard to come by. At least 14point in UMD for Sun Soal boots +4.
With this combo, you can have a very hard hitting character. |

Yeah only problem I see there is no will save which is the hardest save to raise as a fighter and what make any casters epic boss or pvp caster easy to kill you. If you can find a way for me to get 20+ will with one of your build then I will go for it. AC wise with advance combat expertise I get +6 AC which make up.
600HP, Saves 40,30,20, and really high dmg with all the focus.
I made a toon with FB and I get about 500HP and like 10 Will saves. with really bad AC.
Eventually if the world get more complete we should see some really badass epic creatures where I will shine with my build. _________________ Meldor - Drow |

If you want a RDD-ish build with good saves then get rid of the WM levels and take some of BG instead. That way you can add your cha bonus to your saves. I would also put a few more points into cha, maybe enough to get epic divine might. Divine shield is good too if you want to keep your ac high.
I'm pretty sure if you do that your saves can be high enough to never fail (unless you roll a 1), so epic resilience is a good feat to have aswell. |
